Frequently Asked Questions

Send us your contact information including your name, email address, and phone number via the Connect with Us page at the top and we will get you started!

Lessons are for students of all ages and all abilities.

In lessons, students get flute-specific instruction from our master teachers. This one-on-one time is crucial in helping students reach their maximum potential.

Most students sign up for weekly lessons by the semester.  During each semester there are a few break weeks built into the schedule.  While we recommend signing up by the semester, it is possible to register for occasional “a la carte” lessons. Check out the About Lessons page for more information.

We use a variety of music in lessons including classical, jazz, movie, and Disney tunes.

Practice is a very personal thing and the amount that each student practices varies greatly depending on age, level, and their musical goals. Very generally, we recommend that students practice at least four times a week and that each practice session be equal in length to that of their lesson time. Practice time shouldn’t be limited though – don’t let this basic practice guide hold you back from practicing more! Love what you do and do what you love!

The Winston-Salem Flute Academy offers a variety of opportunities in addition to lessons.  Some events include: Christmas Flute Choir, audition prep sessions, and studio recitals.
