Join the Winston-Salem Flute Academy

Established in 2006 by Peter and Lissie Shanahan, the Winston-Salem Flute Academy provides flute lessons and related events for students of all ages and ability levels in Winston-Salem and the surrounding areas. Our professional instructors are graduates of the finest music schools in the U.S., college music teachers, and members of professional symphony orchestras.

Students of the Winston-Salem Flute Academy have achieved many great things. Some accomplishments include:

• First chair in All County, District, and State Bands
• First chair in the Western Regional and All State Orchestras
• Selected to attend the North Carolina Governor’s School for band and orchestra
• Accepted to the Winston-Salem and Western Piedmont Youth Symphonies
• Won the Western Piedmont Youth Symphony Concerto Competition
• Acceptance and scholarships to music programs at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Radford University, Appalachian State University, New York University, UNC Greensboro, UNC Chapel Hill, Indiana University, the University of Maryland, and Western Carolina University.
